Career counseling for Secondary School Students
Location: Government Senior Girls Secondary School, New road, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos
Date: 24th September 2025
“Without knowledge, action is useless, and knowledge without action is futile.”
Phase 1 of the Basic Education and Literacy project was Career counseling for Secondary School Students
The Career Guidance and Counselling session reinforced some areas for the students and also exposed them to career paths of which they were not previously aware. It was also an opportunity to make the students aware of Rotary’s works and values.
Professionals in the fields of IT, Medical Sciences, Finance, Engineering, Law, and Social Sciences took turns to counsel the students on university admission requirements, what each course entails, and the career opportunities they offer.
The students were attentive and participated actively in the interactive sessions. Questions flowed freely, and the facilitators attended to them diligently. The students were not in a hurry to leave even after the formal end of the session.
Participants left with notebooks as a token of encouragement.
The session has 150 students from 5 participating secondary schools, as well as Teachers, whilst the District Educational Board was well represented.
Rotarians in Attendance included the Club President – Rtn. Femi Ogungbemi; Rtn. Lukman Salami (Secretary); Rtn Ademola Aderogba (Project Committee Chairman); Rtn.
